Claro que desejar paz no mundo é o mais aceitável nesta sociedade – que finge não ser consumista –, mas isso é algo que não é de rápida execução. E também não ajuda o facto de sermos pessoazinhas sem voz nem liderarmos uma organização de peso. Isso faz com que seja ainda mais impossível prevenir guerras e mortes.
Na minha família, nunca tivemos uma árvore recheada de presentes. Nós os cinco, teríamos no máximo duas ou três coisas cada que precisássemos mesmo – como uns sapatos ou um casaco – e uma lembrança – como um livro ou meias. Claro que adoraria ter tudo o que desejo nesta minha lista, mas isso tiraria a graça ao acto de desejar. Prefiro esperar pelo próximo ano e fazer esta mesma lista – vá, sem uma coisa ou outra que teria recebido este Natal – e continuar a desejar o resto mantendo o espírito festivo vivo. Ser grata pelo que receber e não amarga por não ter tido tudo. É parecido com paz no mundo, mais ou menos... Paz connosco próprios e com os que nos rodeiam.

[EN]: That time of the year where
every blogger posts their most wanted presents in the hope of someone close to
them seeing it and getting it right once and for all has come – and I'm no exception. It can get quite
shallow though, but in this first world, we want things – that's our reality. And with
all the advertising (or product placements) and constant new products coming up,
it's hard to resist the new trends and hard not to create false desires on
things we want, but don't need.
Of course, wishing for world peace is
way more acceptable in this society – that pretends not to be consumerist –, but that's a thing we can't obtain right away. Plus, not being in charge of
a powerful organization nor having a voice, makes it quite impossible for
preventing wars and deaths.
In my family, we never had a tree full
of presents. Us five, we would get two or three things each that we really needed – like
somes shoes or a jacket – and a small "souvenir" – like a book, or
socks. So of course, I'd love to get all the things I wish for, but then my
wishes would be granted too fast. I rather wait till next year, and make this
same list – without some item I had received this Christmas – and keep on wishing
and keep the festive spirit alive. Be grateful for what I get, and not
greedy to haven't gotten it all.
Seems to be similar to peace on earth...
not quite. Maybe peace with ourselves and the ones around us.
